Mrs. Gail Rachmuth

Why did you get into teaching?

It's in my kindergarten scrapbook that when I grow up I want to be a teacher and an artist.  I suppose those initial thoughts and desires just stayed with me through the years. I began teaching art in an elementary school in Florida in 1974 and have been busy teaching ever since. I love being with children, especially young ones. They have so many fun things to say and always add "extras" to the art projects we do. I once said I would never teach high school kids, but now they are my link to all the current trends in dress and music and constantly amaze me with how talented and creative they can be.  I love my work-----it's not just my livelihood and a paycheck; it's my lifeblood!

Why do you love teaching at LaGrange Academy?

I've been teaching art at LaGrange Academy for 23 years! Yikes!  I've gone from a young Mom to a Grandmother and watched my children grow up here.
