Science
Katie Stout
Teaching Background:
- Most of Mrs. Stout's experience comes from industry.
About Me:
I enjoy sharing my favorite parts of the world with young minds. Being able to see how science can spark a connection with each individual student. My family and I enjoy spending time together in the outdoors, hiking, camping, and fishing. We have completed two cross-country camping trips: one to the Grand Canyon and another through the Badlands and ending in Yellowstone. We hope to continue traveling to the various national parks across the United States.
History
Lauren Hill
Teaching Background:
- Higher Education: West Georgia, University of Florida, and Lagrange College
About Me:
I wanted to effect change at an earlier stage in life and help students prepare for the rigors of collegiate academia, so I decided to become a teacher. I enjoy reading, houseplants, flower gardens, and hiking. I would love to learn to bake bread, but so far, I haven't made anything that didn't more closely resemble a rock than a loaf of bread. I also have an odd fear/fascination of alligators, perhaps it's due to my stint living in Florida.
English Language Arts
Beth Tures (Middle School Lead)
Teaching Background:
- 19th year at LaGrange Academy
- In 2014, I received an educational grant to travel to Turkey.
About Me:
One of the best things about teaching middle school is seeing my students figure out who they really are. I love being able to help them be proud of their unique strengths, and to realize that being confident in who you are makes you "cool". I love that "light bulb" moment, when a student finally understands a challenging concept. I love being able to make writing logical and understandable for writers. In my free time, I like to read (of course) and solve jigsaw puzzles and brain-teasers, and I love to travel! I have been to England, Paris, Italy, Guatemala, Ecuador, Turkey, and Mexico, and traveling all over America.
