New State of Georgia Promise Scholarship Frequently Asked Questions

Eligible families can receive up to $6,500 annually per student for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Approved expenses include tuition, textbooks, transportation, and more.

Students must attend public school for two consecutive semesters or be rising kindergartners and live at an address zoned to an eligible school. eligible schools can be found here: School List 

Once your students have been accepted into the program, they are in until graduation.

The application portal opens on March 1st, 2025, and funding will be available beginning July 1, 2025.


 

Empowering Georgia Families to Pursue Exceptional Education

LaGrange Academy is proud to partner with families to provide access to an exceptional college-preparatory education through the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program. This initiative, signed into law in 2024, empowers Georgia families to access financial support to attend LaGrange Academy.

What Is the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program?


The Georgia Promise Scholarship Program, a school voucher program, provides eligible families with up to $6,500 per student annually to cover educational expenses, including:

  • Independent school tuition and fees
  • Curriculum materials and textbooks
  • Transportation services

The Georgia Education Savings Authority (GESA) administers the program, which ensures families can choose educational options that best suit their child’s unique needs.

 

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Georgia Promise Scholarship:

  • Students must be enrolled in a Georgia public school for at least two consecutive semesters OR
  • Be a rising kindergarten student who forgoes public school enrollment

Who is not eligible:

  • Students outside the school zones listed. 
  • Students are currently attending an independent school. 


Applications for the scholarship will open on March 1st, 2025, with funds available for the 2025-2026 academic year.

 

How to Apply for the Georgia Promise Scholarship

  1. Visit the Georgia Promise Scholarship Website
  2. Check Your Eligibility: Ensure your family meets the program’s requirements.
  3. Prepare to Apply: Gather required documentation, including proof of enrollment or eligibility.
  4. Submit Your Scholarship Application: Applications will be processed through the Georgia Education Savings Authority’s online portal, which will open in early 2025.

What zones are eligible?

Troup County Schools Eligible Zone- 

  • Callaway Elementary
    • Meaning students of CMS and CHS are eligible.
  • Clearview Elementary
    • Meaning students LCMS/GNMS and THS/LHS are eligible, depending on address.

Meriwether County Schools Eligible Zone -

  • Greenville High School
  • Manchester High School
  • Manchester Middle School
  • Mountain View Elementary School

 

What Does That Mean?

If your address is zoned for one of the schools listed above, you may qualify for the Georgia Promise Scholarship, regardless of whether you are in of age to attend the school listed. 

Scenario Example- 

If an elementary school zoned to your address is listed as eligible, but your child attends a high school that is not listed, you are still eligible to receive the Georgia Promise Scholarship. This is because a school zoned to your address is included on the list of eligible schools.
